What the payroll hours calculator can and cannot tell you.
Last updated:
Estimates, not official records
Results depend entirely on the times, breaks, rates and settings you enter. The calculator estimates gross pay before taxes. It does not produce payslips, and its results should not replace official payroll records kept by your employer or payroll provider.
What the calculator does not cover
- Income tax, social security, pension, insurance and other deductions.
- Salaried or exempt employee calculations.
- Bonuses, commissions, tips and shift differentials.
- Holiday pay, sick pay and leave accrual.
- Legally required rest or meal break rules and premium pay for missed breaks.
- Collective agreements, union rules and contract-specific overtime formulas.
Overtime and wage rules vary
Overtime thresholds, daily rules, minimum wage and rounding practices differ by country, state, province and employer. The default 40-hour weekly limit and 1.5× multiplier are common examples, not a statement of what applies to you. Check your contract, employer policy or the official labor department for your area. You can read a general overview in the overtime rules table.
No guarantee of accuracy
We work to keep the calculator correct and publish the calculation method so you can check it. Even so, we do not guarantee the tool is free of errors or fits your situation. Always review results before using them for payroll, invoices or disputes.
